ARL is NOW accepting applications for the Summer 2024 Student Internship Program

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at the University of Hawai’i internship program is an annual internship for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) projects, which introduces students in high school and college to innovative approaches for solving current, real-world problems.

The ARL internship program is conducted in person at the ARL offices in Mānoa Valley. Internships will take place from May 28 2024 – August 15th 2024 for college students and June 3rd 2024 – August 2nd 2024 for high school students.

2024 Internship opportunities are available in the following fields:

  1. Computer Science/Software Engineer – Artificial intelligence/machine learning and data science
  2. Cybersecurity Analyst – Threat hunting and analysis
  3. Electrical Engineer – Communications
  4. Mechanical Engineer – 3D printing and computer aided design (CAD)
  5. Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineer – Robotics
  6. Media & Design – Graphic and web design

Application Deadline:  

  • College – January 21, 2024, by Midnight HST
  • High School – March 3, 2024 by Midnight HST
