Outreach to students includes: hiring graduate and undergraduate students to support projects for UH faculty; mentoring local high school students during summer internship programs; including students in field exercises with DoD and local stakeholders to meet potential employers; and sponsoring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) competitions and conferences in Hawai’i.
The ARL at UH has recently transitioned into a new role as a resource for DoD organizations such as Air Force Research Laboratory, Naval Special Warfare Command, Defense Intelligence Agency, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and industries that desire to create a “pipeline” for student interns to support their organizations and needs.
