Assisting Emergency Managers

ARL at UH developed a web application to help Hawaiʻi’s Emergency Management Agency study various scenarios as the State of Hawaiʻi re-opens in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The web application incorporates a number of existing, open- source models that project the impact that events, such as increasing the number of visitors allowed to fly to Hawaiʻi or re-opening public schools, could have on public health. It serves as an easy-to-use resource for Hawaiʻi’s leaders and medical responders to produce forecasts that assist both short- and long-term planning.

The web application uses the most recently available data on Hawaiʻi’s pandemic status, updated several times per day, to provide timely and relevant forecasting.
